The Keep 2020 is open for submissions
Submissions Open: April 1, 2020
Submissions Close: July 31, 2020
We’re looking for outstanding poetry, prose, fiction, non-fiction, art and photography by novices and professionals. The only constraint is that the subject matter includes New Castle, PA in some way, be it past, present or future.
Word Count: There is no minimum word count, but pieces up to 3,000 words have a better chance of being accepted.
Art and Photography: Artistic pieces will be printed in black and white. You may submit color, but please keep that in mind.
Compensation: We pay $10 for art, photography and poetry. Payment for prose is one cent per word with a minimum of $10. Authors will receive an e-book and one print copy of the anthology, plus wholesale pricing for additional print copies (typically 50% off the cover price).
Rights: We purchase first North American serial rights, audio and electronic rights for the downloadable version(s). All subsidiary rights released upon publication.
Submissions: We do not accept reprints, multiple submissions, or simultaneous submissions. If we reject a piece before the end of the reading period, feel free to send another.
We love creative interpretations of our theme, but we do require the piece to be a solid fit.
We run mature content only if we like the piece and find the mature content to be integral to it.
Manuscript Format: Please use industry standard manuscript format. We’re not testing you or trying to make you jump through hoops, but we do want a manuscript that is easy for us to read.
We accept manuscripts in the following formats:
