New Castle began as a small town at the confluence of the Shenango River and Neshannock Creek. It was situated near the original settlement of the Kuskuski Tribe which was abandoned as European settlers moved into the area.
The downtown has buildings dating back to the 1850s, and along with them the spirits who have yet to leave. Who has appeared in the old masonic temple? Are those revelers at Lanigans from this century or the last?
This walking tour stops at several locations were ghosts are known to roam.
Haunted North Hill
The Historical North Hill District is the third largest district in the state of Pennsylvania, with over 1600 homes dating from 1860s to 1940s. It's no wonder there are a few ghosts hanging around.
This tour takes visitors up the North Hill, past mansions and Victorians built during the turn of the last century. Some are home to modern day families. Others are home to darker and quieter tenants. Was that a bit of mist floating by or a walking spirit? You be the judge.
This tour involves a walk up the north hill and is considered strenuous.
